There is a blog all about someone doing something to raise awareness and help clean up the ocean called junkraft. What he is doing is amazing and utilizing the blog sphere he has created awareness and continues to collect messages to help clean up the ocean.
He has taken on a cause and created a story to tell in order to spread his message: there is too much plastic garbage in the ocean.
What does this have to do with your business? Just like the Junk Raft has a story your business has a story - What is your business' story? What creative stunt can you do to create a larger story that people will get excited about and pass around? Is it your service? Your product? or maybe the reason you're in business? Blog about your business' story and marketing campaigns. Write about how your business fits into the lives of your target market.
It doesn't always have to be something as unique as sailing across the Pacific Ocean on a raft that is kept afloat with plastic bottles. What interests your target market? What do they spend the bulk of their time looking at online? Don't know? Ask your customers or those close to you to help you analyse your target market and create methods of measuring their habits and interests. Create a marketing strategy from this information that will include your businesses story.
If your target audience is young, create a funny YTube video. If your target market are parents create a blog based on parenting, children, or time management and how your business addresses parenting issues. If your target market is retired then look to health, vacation, or retirement issues like occupying time or feeling productive. How does your business fit into your target markets lives - that's the story.
Check out the blog about the raft - if you are interested in the environment or the future of the planet you will find it interesting.
